Three Ways to Use Ginger Shots

Hi friends! You may have seen me posting on Instagram lately about different ways I’ve been using Tulua Ginger Shots. I have been loving adding them to my smoothies, morning tonics, or just drinking them straight! Tulua has tons of different options for the shots – some with probiotics, some with fruity flavors, but all are delicious.

Tulua makes their certified organic shots by cold-pressing the juices and using HPP (high pressure processing), both of which help to maintain the nutrients. They also don’t use any preservatives or additives in their ginger shots, so they have to stay refrigerated.

let’s talk ginger…

Ginger root has been used for centuries worldwide for its medicinal properties. The active component of ginger that is responsible for most of its health benefits is gingerol, which is a powerful anti-inflammatory compound that gives ginger its strong flavor and smell.

Let’s go through some of the benefits of ginger:

  • Anti-inflammatory: Ginger’s anti-inflammatory effects may be helpful in reducing symptoms of muscle pain, soreness, and osteoarthritis. (1)
  • Digestion: Ginger may be able to speed up stomach emptying after a meal, which is a main cause of indigestion. (2)
  • Nausea: Many pregnant women find ginger to be helpful during morning sickness, in addition to nausea during sea sickness, chemotherapy-related nausea, or nausea after surgery. (1)
  • Cancer-protective: Anti-cancer properties have been found in 6-gingerol, which is a compound in raw ginger. More research is needed here to see if this has beneficial effects in humans with cancer. (3)
  • Infection-fighting: Both gingerol and ginger extract have been found to slow the growth of bacteria, which could be helpful in several diseases. (4)
  • Antioxidant properties: Components of ginger have been found to scavenge for free radicals, which is helpful for preventing oxidation in cells. (1)

I came up with three different recipes for using the ginger shots in different ways – I know you’ll love them all!

tart cherry smoothie bowl

The second recipe uses Tulua’s tart cherry probiotic shot, which is one of my favorites! This tart and sweet smoothie combines frozen cherries, strawberries, banana, cauliflower, and coconut butter. Each shot has the equivalent of 8 ounces of tart cherry juice, which has been shown to help with muscle recovery and reducing soreness and pain after exercise (5). This would be the perfect post-workout smoothie to help your muscles!

apple cider vinegar tonic

One of my favorite parts of my morning routine is drinking an apple cider vinegar drink! It has become even easier now that I have Tulua’s apple cider vinegar shots. When combined with a little bit of raw honey and cinnamon, it is the coziest warm drink to enjoy in the morning. Even my boyfriend, who claims to hate apple cider vinegar, willingly drank this tonic! I love that the Tulua shot also has ginger and lemon in it, which boosts both the flavor and the nutritional benefits.

Apple cider vinegar has been shown in studies to help control blood sugar levels, which would be helpful for those with type 2 diabetes or insulin resistance (6). It also may increase satiety if drank before a meal, as well as potentially helping with digestion due to increasing the acidity of your stomach (7). Lastly, apple cider vinegar is also good for the immune system due to its bacteria-killing properties (8).
